Recap and Conclusion About Job Interviews

                In my previous blog posts, I mentioned that a job interview is a face to face interview between an interviewer and an interviewee who applied to a specific job position. It is a professional way to evaluate the interviewee and to see if he/she is suitable for the position applied for. It also requires a lot of preparation from the interviewee so that he/she has a good chance of getting the position desired.

                I also went over the importance of the first five minutes of a job interview and how they can affect the rest of the interview. There are lots of things that come the interviewee thinks of as he/she steps into the interview room which can make this person nervous. The first five minutes of an interview will also be the first impression that the interviewer will get about the interviewee which is very important.

                As an interviewee, you should do a few things during the first five minutes of an interview such as introducing yourself clearly to the interviewer, adapting quickly to the new environment and situation you are in, and talking about your strengths and skills. You need to be confident and do eye contact, remember that this is a bad time to feel nervous.

                Furthermore, you should avoid doing a few things in order to ensure you have a better interview. You need to avoid wearing casual clothes to such a professional interview. You should also avoid swearing, making jokes, and talking too much.

                In conclusion, I think that the first five minutes of an interview are important and can be considered as the first impression that the interviewer gets about you. Because of that, I think that interviewees need to focus on these five minutes by following the points described above and in my previous blog posts. If you follow the points I mentioned, you should end up with a great job interview and hopefully the job you applied for.

Things to Avoid During the Job Interview

                As the person being interviewed, you need to make sure you avoid doing these:

• ·         Wearing casual clothes – An interview is very professional and you will be expected to look so. You won’t be expected to wear shorts or even slippers. This doesn't mean that you should overdo it; you just need to look professional.
• ·         Making jokes – You are not expected to make jokes because this might show the interviewer that you don’t take things seriously. A job interview is a serious thing. Remember that you are not there to make jokes, you are there to show your potential and that you can take things seriously and in a mature way.
• ·         Swearing – You need to avoid saying bad words even if you are used to doing so. As I said, you are trying to show how mature you are in an interview. Saying bad words will just show the opposite.
• ·         Talking too much – Some people think that if you talk too much you will do a better job in an interview. This isn't always true; sometimes you will be asked a question that needs a direct answer with minimum talking.

             
                A job interview is a professional type of interview. There are things that you need to avoid doing in order to insure you have a professional interview and therefore better chances of getting the job you applied for. Things like swearing and making jokes might be considered the most important things to avoid but there are also some other important things that you need to avoid in order to have a successful interview.

The First Five Minutes of a Job Interview and What You Should Do

                The first five minutes of a job interview are very important. The way you as an interviewee handle the first minutes of an interview can tell a lot. They can show the interviewer if you have a plan and if you are actually prepared for this interview or not. The first five minutes can also show if you are nervous or if you can adapt quickly and within minutes to a new experience that can sometimes be hard and worrying.

                There are a few things that you need to do within the first five minutes to insure that you have a good start in the interview. You should basically:

• ·         Introduce yourself clearly to the interviewer. You basically need to be confident and make eye contact at this point. You must also be polite and shake the interviewers’ hand as you introduce yourself.
• ·         You should quickly adapt to the new situation that you are facing and you must be ready to answer a few questions right away. This is a bad time to feel nervous as it might affect your chances in getting this job. Remember to smile and remain calm.
• ·         You must also talk about the strengths and skills that you possess. Good things to talk about would be the additions that you can add to the company if you secure this job.

             
                There are other points that you can follow but these are the most important ones. If you follow these three points, you will have a good first five minutes in the interview and therefore a good start to this interview.

Why are the First Five Minutes of a Job Interview So Important?

                The first five minutes of a job interview can tell a lot about the person being interviewed. They can show the interviewer if the interviewee is nervous or not. They can also show the interviewer how fast this person adapts to pressure and to the new environment he/she is in.

                There are a lot of things that the person being interviewed thinks about as he/she is sitting down and getting ready to answer questions. He/she might not be too focused and might get nervous and therefore end up answering the questions badly. What happens during the first five minutes of the job interview will affect the rest of the interview.


                If the person being interviewed starts well, he/she will probably provide good answers and will end up having a good interview. If this person fails to make a good start, he/she will start getting nervous and will eventually lose control of the interview. In this case, the rest of the interview will continue to go badly unless this person makes a few changes to the way he is handling this interview.

                 The first five minutes of a job interview is important for the reasons discussed above. It is basically the first impression you can give to the person interviewing you, which means that you need to handle these five minutes correctly and avoid making mistakes in order to give the interviewer a good first impression about you. What happens in the first five minutes of an interview will have a huge effect on the rest of the interview.

                The job interview is very important in evaluating potential employees and is usually considered the most useful tool to do so. The interviewer usually asks questions that are related to the position that the person is applying for.  During the interview, the interviewer will not only focus on the interviewees’ answers.


                In addition to listening to the interviewees' answers, the interviewer will look at other aspects such as how the interviewee dressed for this occasion (formal or casual), and how he responds to the questions (is the person nervous or is he/she confident when answering the questions). The interviewer will also see if this person makes eyes contact in order determine if he/she is confident or shy; the interviewer will also check the body language of the person being interviewed.

                From the information above, we can easily tell that a job interview requires a lot of work and that it is not an easy process. Both the interviewer and the interviewee need to be prepared for the interview so that they end up with a successful one.
